Weedsport Man Arrested on Welfare Fraud Warrant

The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a Weedsport man following the execution of a welfare fraud warrant.

On Friday, deputies arrested Milford Therrian on a warrant issued by Auburn City Court for failing to appear in court on the original charges. Therrian is accused of Welfare Fraud in the Fourth Degree, Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree, Misuse of Food Stamps, and two counts of Offering a False Instrument for Filing in the First Degree, all of which are class E felonies.

Following his arrest, Therrian was transported to Auburn City Court, where he was arraigned and released on an appearance ticket

The case was investigated by members of the Cayuga County Department of Social Services Case Integrity Unit, the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division, and the Cayuga County District Attorney’s Office.

The charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. Police reports are automatically removed from this site after 90 days.
