Police: Penn Yan Man Drove to Court on a Suspended License

A 19-year-old Penn Yan man was cited by Penn Yan Police after allegedly driving to the Yates County Courthouse while his driver’s license was suspended.

According to police, officers received a complaint from the Yates County Courthouse and Yates County Probation regarding Marcus Chilson. Authorities said Chilson allegedly admitted to driving to the courthouse despite having a suspended license.

Police worked with Court Security Officers during the investigation. Surveillance video from the courthouse reportedly showed Chilson driving into the parking lot and entering the building.

Officers later made contact with Chilson at Yates County Probation and issued him an appearance ticket charging him with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the Third Degree.

Chilson is scheduled to appear in Penn Yan Village Court at a later date to answer the charge.

The charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. Police reports are automatically removed from this site after 90 days.
