A Bath man was taken into custody last Wednesday after failing to register his address as a sex offender.

According to the Village of Bath Police Department, authorities were notified by the Hornell Police Department on June 3 that they had 43-year-old Thomas Weinman in custody on an active Bath Police arrest warrant. Bath officers subsequently took custody of Weinman on the warrant.

Weinman is accused of moving from his previous address within the village of Bath and failing to register his new address in Hornell within the legally required timeframe. Police noted that Weinman is a six-time convicted felon. As a result of the investigation, he was charged with Failure to Register as a Sex Offender (Second Offense), which is a Class D felony.

Weinman was processed on the felony charge and arraigned in Bath Village Court, where he was remanded to the Steuben County Jail without bail.

The Bath Police Department expressed its gratitude to the Hornell Police Department for their assistance with the arrest.

The charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. Police reports are automatically removed from this site after 90 days.
