The Finger Lakes Daily News website features a weather report titled 'Cold Front Ushers In Cool Sunday With Frost Risk Tonight' for May 10, 2026.

A cold front pushed through the region overnight, and we’re feeling the difference this Sunday morning. Skies are uniformly overcast across the Finger Lakes, with temperatures sitting in the upper 40s to low 50s as of 6 AM — and they won’t climb much from there. Expect highs only in the mid-to-upper 50s for most communities, with Watkins Glen topping out near 63° and Auburn staying coolest around 56°. A stray shower or sprinkle can’t be ruled out this morning as the front clears to the east, but the bulk of the day looks dry.

By afternoon, clouds should begin to thin and winds will stay light — a pleasant enough May Sunday, just grab a jacket.

The bigger story arrives tonight. With the front gone and skies clearing, conditions are set up for solid radiational cooling. Lows will drop into the low-to-mid 40s in most towns, but the colder Southern Tier valleys — think areas in and around Bath, Corning, and Watkins Glen — could dip into the upper 30s. Patchy frost is possible in those lower-lying spots, so cover any tender garden plants before heading to bed.

Looking ahead, Monday brings another round of cool, mostly dry weather, but Monday night carries a more significant and widespread frost threat. Unsettled weather then moves back in Tuesday night through Thursday, with periods of rain expected through midweek. Plan outdoor projects accordingly — the dry window is short.
