A Painted Post man has been sentenced to state prison after admitting to violating an order of protection and threatening a protected individual.

Schuyler County District Attorney Jeremy Hourihan announced that 43-year-old Trevor Dobson pleaded guilty in Schuyler County Court on March 26 to Criminal Contempt in the First Degree, a Class E felony.

According to prosecutors, Dobson admitted that he communicated with a protected party in violation of an active order of protection. Authorities said the communication was intended to place the protected person in fear of physical injury or death.

As part of his plea, Dobson acknowledged sending multiple text and video messages to the protected party that contained various threats.

On June 4, Schuyler County Court Judge Matthew C. Hayden sentenced Dobson to one to three years in state prison.

The case was investigated by the Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by the Schuyler County District Attorney’s Office.
