The Finger Lakes Daily News weather report for May 30, 2026, announces cool, dry conditions with temperatures in the high 40s and low 50s.

The gray skies and unsettled weather that closed out the work week are giving way to something cleaner and quieter this Saturday — though don’t expect warmth to come along for the ride.

A compact but potent low-pressure system that spun through western New England overnight is rapidly pulling away to the southeast. In its wake, an expansive Canadian high is building southward across the Great Lakes, and that’s the dominant story today: dry air, returning sunshine, and temperatures that will feel more like early April than the last day of May.

Most of the region is waking up to overcast skies in the upper 40s to around 50°, with a brisk northwest wind adding a noticeable bite. Geneva residents heading out early should expect that chill to linger through mid-morning. Clouds will gradually thin through the late morning hours, with afternoon highs reaching only the lower 60s — near 62° in Ithaca and Canandaigua, a degree or two cooler in the higher terrain. That’s a solid 10 to 12 degrees below where we’d normally be for late May.

Evenings will be cool and pleasant, with temperatures dropping back into the upper 40s by dark. Overnight lows settle near 47° to 48° under mostly clear skies.

One note for anyone headed toward Lake Ontario: a Beach Hazards Statement remains in effect through midday for Wayne and Northern Cayuga counties, with dangerous wave conditions expected to ease by noon.

Looking ahead, near- to slightly-below-normal temperatures continue through the first half of next week, with a few showers possible east of Lake Ontario at times — but no major storm systems in sight.
