A gorgeous afternoon on tap, but rain moves in by the weekend

Finger Lakes 5-day weather forecast for June 3, 2026, showing sun Wednesday/Thursday, then rain Friday-Sunday.
The Finger Lakes Daily News 5-day forecast for June 3, 2026, shows sunny weather giving way to rain by the weekend.

I’ll say it — this afternoon is tracking even nicer than the morning forecast suggested, with skies staying clear and humidity impressively low across the region. No surprises here; the morning call was solid, and no alerts have been issued.

Geneva is sitting at 76° heading into midday, and highs look to top out near 81° this afternoon under full sunshine. Canandaigua and Penn Yan are showing the driest air of the day, with humidity readings around 30% — expect that comfortable, low-dew-point feel through sunset at 8:41 PM.

Winds are light out of the northwest at 9 mph or so, keeping things breezy without being bothersome. Expect a pleasant evening — temperatures slide back into the upper 50s and low 60s after dark, bottoming out near 47° overnight.

Looking ahead: Thursday brings more warmth, with highs pushing toward 85° in Geneva. A southerly moisture flow builds late in the week, setting the stage for showers and likely thunderstorms by Saturday afternoon. The NWS Buffalo office is tracking a Pacific trough that will break down our current high-pressure ridge, with the best rain chances running from Saturday afternoon through Sunday morning. A few heavier downpours are possible in stronger storms. Sunday evening begins to clear out.
