On Friday, Ontario County Sheriff’s investigators arrested a Horseheads man following an incident at the Ontario County Jail.

David Wing, 56, was arrested without incident at the jail around 6:09 PM. The arrest stemmed from a criminal mischief complaint initially reported on May 17. Investigators allege that while incarcerated at the facility, Wing intentionally broke a sprinkler head inside his cell. The resulting damage caused flooding and required a full replacement of the sprinkler head.

Wing was charged with Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree, a Class A misdemeanor.

He was brought before CAP Court and remained in the custody of the Ontario County Jail.

The charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. Police reports are automatically removed from this site after 90 days.
