On Wednesday, the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Waterloo woman following a shoplifting investigation and an outstanding warrant.

At approximately 8:06 a.m., the Geneva Police Department located and detained 30-year-old Tia Wade before turning her over to sheriff’s deputies. The arrest stems from a shoplifting complaint at the Walmart in the Town of Geneva. Investigators determined that on May 15, Wade placed $134.94 worth of merchandise into a basket and passed all points of sale without attempting to pay.

Wade was charged with one count of petit larceny, a class A misdemeanor.

At the time of her arrest, authorities discovered Wade also had an active arrest warrant out of the Town of Geneva Court. That warrant stemmed from a May 5 incident at the Speedway located at 825 State Route 5 and 20, during which she allegedly stole merchandise.

Wade was transported to the Ontario County Jail to await arraignment. She is scheduled to appear in the Town of Geneva Court at a later date to answer the charges.

The charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. Police reports are automatically removed from this site after 90 days.
