Two women face charges after allegedly interfering with and physically resisting Seneca County Sheriff’s deputies during an incident in the town of Waterloo.

On May 20, deputies arrested Teaonna Jenkins, 27, of Lyons, and Kelly Mardo, 39, of Rochester.  According to authorities, the incident began when Jenkins allegedly struck and pushed a sheriff’s deputy. When deputies attempted to detain her, Jenkins reportedly refused to follow lawful commands and physically obstructed their efforts. After being informed she was under arrest, Jenkins allegedly continued to physically resist the officers.

During the struggle, Mardo allegedly interfered with law enforcement by getting in the way of the deputies and pushing a deputy away in an attempt to prevent Jenkins from being detained. Both women were ultimately taken into custody.

Jenkins was charged with second-degree obstructing governmental administration, resisting arrest, and second-degree harassment. Mardo was charged with second-degree obstructing governmental administration.

Both Jenkins and Mardo were released on appearance tickets and are scheduled to answer the charges in Waterloo Town Court on June 17.

The charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. Police reports are automatically removed from this site after 90 days.
