A Cayuga County man was arrested following a domestic violence investigation in the Town of Venice early Monday morning.

Cayuga County Sheriff Brian Schenck said deputies arrested 39-year-old Bruce Cornell, of Venice, around 3 a.m. Tuesday on charges of fourth-degree criminal mischief and endangering the welfare of a child.

Deputies were initially called to a residence in the Town of Venice around 1 a.m. for a reported domestic incident. According to the Sheriff’s Office, investigators determined Cornell, while allegedly intoxicated, damaged property inside the home following an altercation with an adult female. Authorities said the incident occurred in the presence of children under the age of 17.

Deputies said Cornell left the scene before officers arrived, but was later located at another location and taken into custody.

Cornell was transported to the Cayuga County Public Safety Building for processing before being arraigned in CAP Court. He was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to appear in Venice Town Court at a later date.
