Savannah Man Arrested Following Huron Traffic Stop

On Saturday, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Town of Savannah man following a traffic stop in the Town of Huron.

Deputies stopped Micheal Welch and discovered that he was allegedly driving on a suspended license. Authorities further allege that Welch was in possession of suspected crack cocaine, drug paraphernalia, and a switchblade knife.

Welch was charged with one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree, one count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fourth Degree, and one count of Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the Third Degree. Additionally, he was cited for Unlicensed Operation and failure to stop at a stop sign.

Welch was transported to the Wayne County Jail to await centralized arraignment.

The charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. Police reports are automatically removed from this site after 90 days.
