An out-of-state registered sex offender living in Ovid faces charges for failing to update his address and providing false paperwork, according to Seneca County Sheriff Timothy Thompson.

On Wednesday, investigators arrested Lee Webber, 55, of Ovid.  Authorities allege that Webber moved to Ovid and failed to notify law enforcement or the New York State Sex Offender Registry of his new address within the legally required 10-day window. Investigators further allege that Webber submitted documentation containing false information regarding the actual date of his relocation.

Webber was charged with failure to report a change of address within 10 days and second-degree offering a false instrument for filing.

Following his arrest, Webber was arraigned at the Seneca County Centralized Arraignment Part (CAP) Court and remanded to the Seneca County Correctional Facility. He is scheduled to reappear in Ovid Town Court at a later date to answer the charges.

The charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. Police reports are automatically removed from this site after 90 days.
