A new exhibit celebrating the contributions of Asian American and Pacific Islander organizations across New York State is now open at the State Capitol in Albany.

The New York State Office of General Services announced the opening of “Power in Unity: Strengthening Communities Together” in recognition of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. The exhibit is located in the Governor’s Reception Room on the Capitol’s second floor and will remain open through the end of May.

OGS Commissioner Jeanette Moy said the exhibit highlights organizations that continue working to combat prejudice, discrimination, and inequality while helping connect AAPI New Yorkers with critical resources and support services.

The exhibit features several organizations that advocate for and support AAPI communities across the state, including the Asian American Arts Alliance, Asian Pacific America Public Affairs, Adhikaar, Asian Americans for Equality, the Metropolitan Asian Deaf Association, and the Coalition for Asian American Children and Families.

According to OGS, the exhibit focuses on the role those organizations have played in promoting civic engagement, social justice, cultural awareness, and community support.

The AAPI Heritage Month exhibit is free and open to the public weekdays from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. through the end of May.
