On Monday, Yates County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a Naples man following a traffic stop on State Route 14A in the town of Benton.

Damien Northrop was stopped by deputies working a STOP DWI crackdown after his vehicle was allegedly clocked traveling 73 mph in a 55 mph zone.

During the subsequent investigation, deputies discovered that Northrop was operating the vehicle with a suspended license. According to authorities, the suspension was extensive enough to trigger a violation of Angelica’s Law, resulting in a charge of Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the First Degree, which is a class E felony. Northrop was also cited for speeding.

Northrop was transported to the Yates County Jail to await Centralized Arraignment Part (CAP) court.

The charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. Police reports are automatically removed from this site after 90 days.
