Darrin Badman, a Moravia man, was jailed on a felony contempt charge.

A Moravia man was jailed without bail after Cayuga County deputies say he repeatedly violated an order of protection and threatened the protected person.

Cayuga County Sheriff Brian Schenck said deputies arrested 34-year-old Darrin Badman on a warrant charging him with aggravated criminal contempt, a Class D felony.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies were first called around 11 a.m. Friday to a residence in the Town of Moravia for a reported order of protection violation. Investigators determined Badman had violated the court order multiple times and had allegedly threatened harm to the protected person. Authorities said Badman’s prior convictions for violating the same order elevated the charge to aggravated criminal contempt.

Deputies initially attempted to locate Badman but were unsuccessful. An arrest warrant was later issued, and Badman was eventually found in Ithaca and taken into custody.

He was transported to the Public Safety Building for processing before being arraigned in Cayuga County CAP Court.

Officials said Badman, who was already on probation for a previous criminal contempt conviction, was remanded to the Cayuga County Jail without bail.
