A Fleming man was arrested early Friday morning on drunk driving charges following a traffic stop in Cayuga County.
According to Cayuga County Sheriff Brian Schenck, deputies arrested 54-year-old Jeffery Dixon at approximately 1:13 a.m. May 23 on charges including DWI first offense, DWI per se, and multiple vehicle and traffic violations.
Deputies said a patrol officer observed Dixon driving southbound on State Route 34 in the Town of Fleming at 75 miles per hour in a posted 55 miles per hour zone and allegedly passing another vehicle in a no-passing zone.
Authorities said the deputy stopped the vehicle on Willow Brook Road near Route 34 and, following an investigation, took Dixon into custody for driving while intoxicated.
Dixon was transported to the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office, where deputies say he provided a breath sample measuring 0.16 percent blood alcohol content.
He was issued appearance tickets and is scheduled to appear in Fleming Town Court on June 9 at 4:30 p.m.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
