Fatal Oswego County Fire Under Investigation

A man was found dead following an early morning house fire on Thursday in Oswego County.

New York State Police said troopers responded around 4:26 a.m. to 870 County Route 41 in the town of Richland after receiving reports of a residential structure fire.

When emergency crews arrived, the home was fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters from the Ringgold and Richland fire departments extinguished the blaze.

During the investigation, authorities located a deceased man inside the residence. His identity has not yet been released.

Officials said the fire was contained to the home and did not spread to nearby structures.

State Police said there are currently no suspicious circumstances surrounding the fire, though the investigation into the cause and origin remains ongoing.

Multiple agencies assisted at the scene, including the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office, several Oswego County fire departments, Oswego County fire coordinators, New York State fire investigators, and McFee Ambulance.
