A Victor man was taken into custody on Wednesday afternoon on an active arrest warrant stemming from a prior protection order violation.

On Wednesday, the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office arrested Carl Vanetten at the Ontario County Jail. The arrest warrant was issued out of the Town of Canandaigua Court following an incident that occurred on May 17 in the Town of Canandaigua. During that initial incident, Vanetten allegedly violated an active stay-away order of protection by contacting a protected party via text message.

Vanetten has been charged with one count of second-degree criminal contempt, a class A misdemeanor.

Following his arrest on the warrant, Vanetten was arraigned in the Ontario County Centralized Arraignment Court. He was remanded to the custody of the Ontario County Jail in lieu of $500 bail, $1,000 bond, or $1,500 partially secured bond.

Vanetten is scheduled to appear in the Town of Canandaigua Court at a later date to answer the charges.

The charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. Police reports are automatically removed from this site after 90 days.
