An Ontario County Jail inmate faces an additional charge after allegedly contacting a protected party from behind bars.
On Wednesday, Ontario County Sheriff’s Office investigators arrested Kurtis Freeman of Canandaigua. The arrest followed an investigation revealing that Freeman, while incarcerated at the Ontario County Jail, allegedly mailed a letter to an individual who holds a valid order of protection against him. The active legal order directed Freeman to stay away from and refrain from all contact with the protected individual.
Freeman was charged with second-degree criminal contempt.
Following his arrest, Freeman was arraigned in the Ontario County Centralized Arraignment Part Court before the presiding justice. He was ordered to appear in Hopewell Town Court at a later date to answer the charge.
