Auburn Man Charged With Felony Contempt

Police Blotter

On Thursday, Auburn Police arrested a local man following an investigation into a protection order violation at a city business.

Shautee Brown, 35, was taken into custody at the Chapel House on Franklin Street. The arrest stems from an incident on May 4, when an officer reportedly observed Brown entering the Speedway on North Street and speaking with an employee.

Police confirmed that a “full stay away” order of protection was in place, which prohibited Brown from contacting the employee or entering their place of employment. Due to his domestic violence history, the charges against Brown were elevated to felonies.

Brown was charged with first-degree aggravated criminal contempt, aggravated family offense, and second-degree criminal contempt.

Following his arrest, Brown was processed at the Auburn Police Department and subsequently lodged at the Cayuga County Jail after his arraignment.

The charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. Police reports are automatically removed from this site after 90 days.
