Auburn Man Accused of Identity Theft

Police Blotter

On Thursday, the Auburn Police Department released details about the arrest of an Auburn resident following a stolen-property investigation.

David Atwood was charged with Petit Larceny, Identity Theft, both misdemeanors, and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, an E felony.

The charges stem from an incident reported on April 6, in which a victim stated they had lost their wallet containing personal paperwork, credit cards, and debit cards on April 4. After the victim was unable to locate the wallet over the weekend, they noticed several unauthorized purchases had been made at a few local businesses.

An investigation into the matter discovered that Atwood was allegedly responsible for making at least one of these purchases without permission.

This investigation remains open. Anyone with further information is asked to contact Auburn Police Officer Tillapaugh at (315) 253-3231.

The charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. Police reports are automatically removed from this site after 90 days.
