A Sodus woman has been charged after authorities say a toddler was found walking alone in the roadway on Shaker Road.

According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrested 25-year-old Holly Craner, of the Alton Mobile Home Park, following an investigation into the incident.

Deputies said they responded to a 911 call reporting that a young child was walking unattended in the roadway. Investigators allege that while Craner was supervising the 2-year-old child, the toddler left the home, exited the trailer park, and made their way onto Shaker Road without anyone accompanying them.

Witnesses told deputies the child was seen walking alone in the road while traffic was actively passing through the area.

Craner was charged with endangering the welfare of a child. She was transported to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office for processing and later taken to the Wayne County Jail to await CAP Court arraignment.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
