Yates County Deputy Sheriff Involved in Two-Car Crash in Penn Yan

A Yates County Sheriff’s Deputy was taken to Soldiers and Sailors Hospital for a checkover after being involved in a two-car accident in the village of Penn Yan on Wednesday afternoon.

The accident happened at around 3 p.m. at the intersection of Liberty Street and North Avenue and was called into dispatch by the deputy, who said she had been t-boned and was trapped.  The deputy told dispatchers she was not injured.  The conditions of the people in the other vehicle were not immediately known.

As of 4 p.m. North Avenue, between Liberty and Main Street, was closed to all traffic for accident reconstruction.

Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including the Penn Yan Police Department, Yates County Sheriff’s Office, Penn Yan Fire Department, Penn Yan Ambulance, and Yates County Office of Emergency Services.
