A Mynderse Academy student has been selected to serve on the national leadership council for Students Against Destructive Decisions, or SADD.

Brea Osborn, a rising junior at the Seneca Falls school, was chosen as a member of SADD’s 2026-2027 National Student Leadership Council, a group made up of students from across the country recognized for their leadership and commitment to promoting safe and healthy decision-making among young people.

According to SADD, Osborn is a multi-sport athlete and honors student who enjoys spending time outdoors and with friends. Her favorite SADD “power word” is “change.”

“Not everyone thinks I can change things, and I like to prove them wrong,” Osborn said in a statement released by the organization.

The National Student Leadership Council works with SADD staff and national partners on campaigns focused on issues affecting teens, including traffic safety, mental health, substance misuse prevention, impaired and distracted driving, and peer leadership.

SADD Executive Director Dr. Cara Schrack said student leadership remains central to the organization’s mission.

“These young leaders are helping shape safer communities nationwide by using their voices, experiences, and influence to inspire positive decision-making among their peers,” Schrack said.

The new council will officially begin its work this summer as part of SADD’s “100 Safest Days of Summer” campaign, which promotes safe driving habits during the period between Memorial Day and Labor Day — historically one of the deadliest times of year for teen drivers.
