A series of bronze plaques on stone monuments, part of the Veterans Tribute Campaign, stands outside Penn Yan Hospital, honoring local service members.

The Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital Auxiliary is continuing its annual “Remember and Honor Those Who Served” initiative as the nation prepares to commemorate its 250th anniversary.

The program invites individuals, families, and organizations to recognize veterans and active-duty military members through donations of $10 or more made in their honor or memory. Names submitted through the initiative will be displayed on “Honor Roll” boards in the lobby of Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital from Memorial Day through Veterans Day.

“This initiative is a meaningful way for our community to remember the sacrifices made by generations of service members while also supporting the care we provide today,” said Marilyn Smith. “Every name represents gratitude, remembrance, and respect.”

To participate, donors are asked to submit the service member’s name, indicate whether the tribute is in honor or memory of the individual, and mail the information along with cash or a check payable to Soldiers and Sailors Auxiliary.

Submissions should be sent to:
Loree MacKerchar
300 North Ave.
Penn Yan, NY 14527

Organizers said donations are tax-deductible as allowed by law.

Proceeds from the initiative will support the purchase of new patient beds at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital.
