Lyons Man Indicted on Rape Charges Involving 12-Year-Old

A Lyons man already being held in the Wayne County Jail has been indicted on multiple felony charges stemming from allegations that he sexually assaulted a 12-year-old girl in Newark.

According to Newark Village Police, 38-year-old Robbin Knight was arrested on an indictment warrant issued by Wayne County Court. Investigators allege Knight befriended a 12-year-old girl in the village before sexually assaulting her.

Knight has been charged with first-degree rape under New York’s forcible rape statute, first-degree rape involving a victim under the age of 13 and an actor over the age of 18, and endangering the welfare of a child.

Police said Knight was already incarcerated at the Wayne County Jail on an unrelated charge of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class B felony, when the indictment was handed down.

According to police, Knight has been arrested 16 times, including eight felony arrests and eight misdemeanor arrests. Authorities said he has 10 prior convictions, six open criminal cases, and a previous conviction for attempted third-degree rape.

The case will continue in Wayne County Court.
