Penn Yan FFA Members Earn State Honors

Several members of the Penn Yan FFA chapter were recognized with top honors during the 101st New York State FFA Convention.

Penn Yan Agriculture and FFA announced that Alexa Breeds, Sarah Hall, Dougie Flynn, Bailey Kennedy, Lucas Smart, Lizzie Lilyea, and Colt Walters each earned the Empire FFA Degree, one of the highest honors awarded to FFA members in New York State.

The degree recognizes students for years of dedication, leadership, involvement in agriculture, and growth in their supervised agricultural experience, or SAE, projects.

Two Penn Yan students also received additional statewide recognition for their accomplishments.

Lizzie Lilyea was named the New York State Star in Agriscience, an award recognizing the top agriscience SAE project in the state. The award highlights excellence in agricultural research and innovation.

Sarah Hall earned recognition as the District Star in Agricultural Placement for her work experience and involvement in the equine industry.
