A Town of Ontario woman faces a driving while intoxicated charge following a traffic stop in Wayne County.

According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrested 41-year-old Melissa Winter after stopping her vehicle on Knickerbocker Road. Deputies said Winter was observed traveling 75 miles per hour in a posted 55 miles per hour zone. During the traffic stop, officers conducted standardized field sobriety tests and subsequently placed her under arrest for driving while intoxicated.

Winter was transported to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, where she submitted to a breath test that allegedly measured a blood alcohol content of .16%, twice New York State’s legal limit.

She was processed at the Wayne County Jail and later released with appearance tickets.

The charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. Police reports are automatically removed from this site after 90 days.
