New York State Police investigate a fatal pedestrian crash in Newfield.

A Newfield woman has died after being hit by a vehicle earlier this month in Tompkins County.

New York State Police said 44-year-old Amber Rawn died on May 14 from injuries she suffered in the crash, which happened on May 7 on Van Kirk Road in the Town of Newfield.

Troopers from the Ithaca barracks responded to the scene around 10:30 that night for a report of a vehicle hitting a pedestrian.

According to the preliminary investigation, 28-year-old Anthony Vandermark of Newfield was driving a 2023 Ford Escape south on Van Kirk Road when he failed to see Rawn in the roadway and struck her.

Rawn was treated at the scene by Bangs Ambulance crews before being flown by LifeFlight to Upstate Medical Center.

The investigation remains ongoing.
