Ithaca Police Investigating Early Morning Stabbing

The Ithaca Police Department is investigating a stabbing that left one person injured early Thursday morning.

According to police, officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Elmira Road at approximately 1:20 a.m. following a report of a stabbing.

When officers arrived, they found a victim suffering from stab wounds to the hip and back. Police provided first aid at the scene before the victim was transported to a regional trauma center for treatment. Authorities said the victim is currently listed in stable condition.

The suspect had fled the area before officers arrived. Investigators believe the suspect and victim knew each other and say the incident does not appear to be a random act of violence.

The investigation remains active.
