Michigan Man Arrested After Hopewell Shoplifting

A Michigan man was arrested Thursday evening following a reported shoplifting incident at the Walmart in the Town of Hopewell.

Ontario County Sheriff’s deputies said 20-year-old Demone McNeal of Southfield, Michigan, was taken into custody following an investigation at the store on Recreation Drive.

According to deputies, McNeal fled on foot when law enforcement attempted to approach him. Investigators later determined McNeal had previously been banned from all Walmart properties.

McNeal was charged with trespassing and second-degree obstructing governmental administration.

Deputies said all stolen property was recovered. McNeal was issued appearance tickets and is scheduled to appear in Hopewell Town Court at a later date.
