Protesters gathered at Geneva City Hall on Sunday evening to speak out against recent immigration enforcement actions and arrests involving workers in the Finger Lakes region.
Dozens of demonstrators attended the rally, carrying signs calling for an end to deportations and listening to speakers on the steps of City Hall. Organizers said the event was intended to highlight the impact immigration enforcement is having on local families and the broader community.
Karen Frost-Arnold of Finger Lakes Rapid Response said the group is working to support families affected by immigration arrests, including providing assistance in the aftermath of detentions.
Frost-Arnold said the arrests have had wide-reaching effects on families, including separation, financial strain, and fear in the community.
Following the rally, participants marched down Castle Street chanting in protest.
The demonstration comes amid ongoing concerns from advocacy groups in the region over immigration enforcement activity. Organizers said recent enforcement actions have raised alarm among residents and prompted increased community response.
Local advocacy organizations involved in the event said they plan to continue efforts to support affected families and bring attention to immigration enforcement impacts in the Finger Lakes area.
