A former Fulton Junior High School teaching assistant has been charged following an investigation into allegations of inappropriate conduct involving students.
According to police, the investigation began on April 27 after a student reported to school staff that a teaching assistant had engaged in inappropriate behavior during school hours. School officials notified law enforcement, prompting an investigation.
Investigators allege the teaching assistant displayed a sexually explicit text message on her cellphone to three students, who viewed the message. Police conducted numerous interviews with students, several of whom were identified as witnesses.
As a result of the investigation, 38-year-old Katelynn Hanson of Fulton was taken into custody and charged with three counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
Authorities said Hanson is no longer employed by the Fulton City School District.
She is scheduled to appear in Fulton City Court on June 18 to answer the charges.
