Woman Hit by Car at Victor BJ’s

An ambulance with flashing lights speeds through the night, blurred by motion.
An ambulance with flashing lights responds to an emergency at night, similar to the scene after a woman was hit by a car in Victor.

A 73-year-old Fairport woman was injured Wednesday afternoon after being struck by a vehicle in the parking lot of BJ’s Wholesale Club in Victor.

According to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 2:09 p.m. to the store at 50 Eastview Mall Drive for a reported personal injury crash.  Investigators said Lorenzo Dalessandro, 73, of Victor, was backing up his vehicle when he struck pedestrian Diane Thomas, of Fairport.

Thomas suffered a shoulder injury and was transported by Victor-Farmington Ambulance to F.F. Thompson Hospital for treatment.

Deputies said Dalessandro was issued a citation for unsafe backing.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
