What Caused Tuesday’s Power Outage in Canandaigua, Bristol?

More than 17,000 RG&E customers in Ontario County lost power Tuesday morning following an equipment issue at the utility’s Manchester substation.

According to RG&E, the outage occurred around sunrise and affected customers in several communities, including Canandaigua, East Bloomfield, Bristol, and South Bristol.

The outage also impacted local schools, with the Canandaigua City School District opting to open on a two-hour delay.

RG&E crews worked throughout the day to restore service, and most affected customers had power restored by approximately 4 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.
