Phelps-Clifton Springs Central School District has been recognized for the first time as one of the nation’s “Best Communities for Music Education” by the NAMM Foundation.

More than 1,000 schools and districts across the country received the designation this year for demonstrating outstanding achievement in providing music access and education opportunities to students.

The district, also known as Midlakes Schools, said the recognition highlights its commitment to maintaining a strong music program that offers students a variety of classroom instruction and performance opportunities through multiple ensembles.

District officials also credited community organizations and supporters for helping strengthen music education programs for students.

According to the NAMM Foundation, the “Best Communities for Music Education” designation recognizes collaborative efforts among teachers, administrators, families, and community members to ensure music education remains an important part of a well-rounded curriculum.

The district also congratulated members of its music department, including Kathryn Kenyon, Will Hope, Amy Conners, Chris McAfee, Bethany Cripps, Eileen Bohrer, and Amy VanderWeide, for their contributions to the program’s success.
