New York State Police have released a final update in the investigation into a fatal hit-and-run that occurred late last year on Downer Street in Baldwinsville.
Troopers said the incident happened on December 7 at approximately 5:50 a.m., when State Police responded to a report of a woman lying in the roadway. Responding patrols located the victim in the eastbound lane of Downer Street. Authorities said she was deceased and had injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle.
According to investigators, the incident was reported by a passerby who did not witness the crash.
The victim was identified as Tammy Langford-Michels, 53, of Baldwinsville.
Investigators determined Langford-Michels had been walking from a nearby Dunkin’ Donuts at approximately 5:39 a.m. Surveillance video and witness interviews indicated it would have taken about two minutes for her to walk from the business to the location where she was found.
State Police said the investigation determined Langford-Michels was already lying in the roadway before being struck. Investigators also found no evidence indicating she had been dragged a significant distance.
With assistance from the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office and through surveillance video review, investigators identified the vehicle believed to have been involved in the incident. Police identified the driver as Cameron Parry, 28, of Auburn.
Investigators said Parry cooperated with authorities and told investigators he was unaware at the time that a pedestrian had been struck.
Following consultation with the Onondaga County District Attorney’s Office, State Police said the investigation did not establish grounds for criminal charges under New York law.
Officials said the criminal investigation has now concluded and no further updates are expected.
