A fundraiser has been launched to support the family of a Lyons man who was killed in a motorcycle crash in Cayuga County over Mother’s Day weekend.
The online fundraiser was created for the family of 35-year-old Branden Paradise, who died following a two-motorcycle crash Sunday afternoon on Route 31 in the Town of Mentz.
Organizer Stephanie Reed wrote that Paradise’s family is facing unexpected funeral and medical expenses following the crash and said there was no life insurance in place.
“Every donation will go directly toward funeral costs and outstanding medical expenses, allowing the family to focus on healing and honoring their loved one,” Reed wrote on the fundraising page.
According to New York State Police, the crash happened around 4:15 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Route 31 and Brutus Mentz Townline Road. Investigators said a Nissan Pathfinder pulled into the path of two westbound motorcycles that had the right of way, causing both motorcycles to strike the SUV.
Paradise was airlifted to Upstate University Hospital, where he later died from his injuries. The second motorcyclist was also airlifted to Upstate University Hospital and remains hospitalized.
State Police said the SUV driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. Troopers said there was no indication alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash.
