4-H Camp Bristol Hills is launching a new three-day “Sampler Camp” program this summer aimed at giving children a chance to experience camp before committing to a longer stay.
The new offering will run July 1 through July 3 and will serve children ages 5 through 16 in a day-camp format.
Jess Middleton said the program is designed to introduce new campers to the camp experience while encouraging them to return for future sessions.
“This year one of the new things we’re trying out is called Sampler Camp,” Middleton said. “So for July 1 through third, we’re running our day programs for kids that are five years old up to 16 years old, looking for a day only type program, and it’s a three day thing, so you get a taste of camp.”
Camp Bristol Hills officially opens July 1 for its 101st season. The longtime Ontario County summer camp offers several programs throughout the summer, including overnight resident camp, day camp, adventure camp and specialty programs.
Middleton said the camp’s resident overnight program remains its largest offering and runs across five weeks during July and August.
Camp officials say registration remains open until sessions are filled, with some weeks historically reaching capacity before the summer begins.
The camp is also continuing leadership development programs for older teens through its counselor-in-training and leader-in-training opportunities.
“We have a leader in training and a counselor in training program,” Middleton said. “It’s a wonderful way to continue our traditions and really have a group of young adults that are so invested and so excited about camp.”
Camp Bristol Hills is also preparing for future facility upgrades after recently receiving an $800,000 grant to build a new swimming pool and pool house ahead of the 2027 season.
