The Seward House Museum will debut a new immigration-themed exhibit during its June “First Friday” event as the historic Auburn site continues its 2026 season following a winter closure.
The event is scheduled for Friday, June 5 and will feature the opening of “Who Belongs in America: Immigration Then and Now,” a new exhibit examining William Henry Seward’s views on immigration and his advocacy for immigrants during his time in office.
Museum officials said the exhibit will explore how immigration policy and public attitudes have evolved over time.
The First Friday event will also feature artwork by Finger Lakes artist Meg Zanuck, who specializes in plein air painting. Zanuck’s work has previously been displayed at the Pat Rini Rohrer Gallery and the Schweinfurth Art Center.
Live music will also be performed during the event by Auburn musicians Bob Piorun and Julie Howard.
The museum reopened in March after being closed for part of the winter season and has continued offering tours and special programming throughout the spring.
Ludemann also noted that the museum plans to expand its operating hours beginning in June. From June through September, the museum will be open Tuesday through Sunday, with Sunday hours running from 1 to 5 p.m.
Additional information about tours, exhibits and events is available through the museum’s website.
