Auburn Library Plans 150th Birthday Celebration

The historic Seymour Library in Auburn, New York, is preparing to celebrate its 150th birthday with a series of community events.

2026 marks the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Seymour Library in Auburn.

To celebrate 150 years of serving the community, the library is planning a birthday celebration. On May 20, the library will serve birthday cake and hold a special concert from the Auburn Junior High School Chamber Group. The cake will be served at 6:00p with the concert to follow at 6:30p.

On May 20, 1876, the Seymour Library was incorporated. It would open on the second floor of the Auburn Savings Bank, now known as the Phoenix Building. In 1903, the library would open in its current location, the Case Memorial Library building at 176 Genesee St.
