A Finger Lakes Drug Task Force investigation into suspected drug activity in Auburn has resulted in the arrest of a 39-year-old woman on felony drug charges.
According to the task force, investigators had been investigating Ashley Gordon for the alleged illegal possession, sale, and distribution of drugs in Cayuga County. As part of the investigation, authorities obtained court-authorized search warrants for Gordon and her residence in the City of Auburn.
On Wednesday afternoon, investigators detained Gordon outside the Cayuga Inn at the Finger Lakes on William Street and executed the search warrants. During the searches, investigators said they located and seized a quantity of cocaine.
As a result of the investigation, Gordon was charged with one count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, a Class B felony, and one count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fourth Degree, a Class C felony.
Gordon was arrested, processed at the Auburn Police Department, and later arraigned on the charges. She was released on an appearance ticket.
The Finger Lakes Drug Task Force is comprised of members of the New York State Police, Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office, and the Auburn Police Department. The Cayuga County District Attorney’s Office will prosecute the case.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
