Auburn's newest mural, a vibrant pop-art depiction of Broadway legend Thommie Walsh, features 'Life on Stage' text and Tony Awards, celebrating his career.

Auburn’s newest downtown mural will be unveiled on Wednesday.

The Auburn Downtown Partnership will unveil the Thommie Walsh memorial mural, the newest addition to the city’s downtown public art trail, with a public unveiling at 1:00 p.m. at the Riordan Realty Building on Dill St.

Created by Trinity Rivard, the 10’x10′ mural will be placed on the backside of the building, making it visible to those on Dill St. The project was managed by the partnership and funded through the City of Auburn’s Downtown Revitalization Award.

The mural showcases Auburn native Thommie Walsh’s connection to theatre and choreography. Walsh was a choreographer, dancer, director, and author. He received two Tony Awards for his work, one in 1980 and the other in 1983.

Walsh died in Auburn in 2007 at the age of 57.
