An Auburn woman has been arrested on a felony warrant following a joint welfare fraud investigation.
According to Cayuga County Sheriff Brian Schenck, deputies arrested 27-year-old J’Anne Mizro on Tuesday. Mizro was charged with Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree, Welfare Fraud in the Fourth Degree, and Felony Misuse of Food Stamps.
Following her arrest, Mizro was processed and arraigned at Auburn City Court, where she was released on her own recognizance.
The fraud case was investigated by members of the Cayuga County Department of Social Services Case Integrity Unit, with assistance from the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division and the Cayuga County District Attorney’s Office.
Sheriff Schenck noted that his department remains committed to working with partner agencies to identify, investigate, and prosecute those who commit fraud in the community.
