Auburn City Hall, a classical building with a golden dome, will host public hearings on the city's budget and tax levy increase.

Two upcoming public hearings will let Auburn residents weigh in on the city’s proposed budget and a potential tax increase.

The city has announced that two public hearings will take place on Thursday, May 28, during the regularly scheduled City Council meeting, beginning at 5:00p at City Hall.

The first hearing will be on Local Law No 1 of 2026, a law that, if passed, would authorize the city to increase the property tax levy in excess of the limit established by state law.

The second hearing will be on the city’s proposed 2026-27 budget. A copy of the proposed budget can be found on the city’s website.

For those who can’t attend the hearings, comments can be sent electronically on the city’s website or written and mailed or dropped off to the Mayor and City Council, Memorial City Hall, 24 South St, Auburn, NY 13021. Comments can also be made via phone by leaving a voicemail at 315-255-4104.
