The Auburn Fire Department took part in the 2026 Cayuga County Torch Run over the weekend to support Special Olympics New York.

Off-duty Auburn firefighters joined members of the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office, Auburn Police Department, and the Cayuga County District Attorney’s Office for the 2.3-mile run through the City of Auburn.

The Auburn Fire Department said Engine Company 2 also assisted with traffic control along the route as runners made their way through the city.

The annual Torch Run benefits Special Olympics New York, which provides year-round sports training and athletic competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. The organization was founded in 1968 and offers opportunities for athletes to build physical fitness, confidence, and community connections through Olympic-style sports programs.
