An Auburn man faces weapon and menacing charges following a neighbor dispute on Lawton Avenue late last week.

On Friday, at approximately 8:07 p.m., members of the Auburn Police Department were dispatched to the area for a report of a dispute between neighbors. Upon arrival, officers made contact with Keith Rusaw, 64, who was allegedly intoxicated and stated he had been in an argument with his neighbor.

An investigation revealed that Rusaw allegedly possessed and threatened the victim with a baseball bat, though he did not use the weapon to cause physical harm. Police stated that Rusaw’s actions caused the victim to fear for their physical safety.

Rusaw was arrested and charged with Menacing in the Second Degree with a Weapon, a misdemeanor, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree due to a prior conviction, a class D felony.

Following his arrest, Rusaw was processed on the charges and transported to the Cayuga County Jail, where he was held pending a Centralized Arraignment Part (CAP) court appearance.

The charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. Police reports are automatically removed from this site after 90 days.
