Following what it calls a recent increase in e-bike accidents in Auburn, the city’s firefighters union is urging riders to follow the rules of the road and stay safe.

Auburn Firefighters IAFF Local 1446 is encouraging riders to learn about the rules of the road, stating in a Facebook post, “many recent accidents have involved excessive speed, unsafe riding practices, and failure to follow traffic laws.”

According to the union, e-bike riders should use bike lanes, not ride on sidewalks, avoid excessive speeds, use hand signals, and be aware of cars.

Additionally, riders are encouraged to wear helmets, ride with traffic, use lights and reflectors, and stay alert.
