The Keuka College Women’s Soccer team came up just short on Saturday, falling 1-0 at home to SUNY Brockport in an Empire 8 Conference matchup.

The Golden Eagles pressed early, but Keuka’s defense held strong behind goalkeeper Elianna Wilder (Victor, N.Y. / Victor), who made six first-half saves to keep the game scoreless at the break. The Wolves nearly grabbed the lead in the 13th minute when Delaney Szostak (Marion, N.Y. / Marion) curled a corner kick on frame, forcing a leaping stop by the Brockport keeper.

Brockport finally broke through in the second half, converting on a corner kick that slipped through to the back post for the game’s only goal. Keuka’s best response came in the 70th minute as Anna Leone (Brighton, N.Y. / Brighton) sent in a pair of crosses, with the second finding Kelsey Davis (Nunda, N.Y. / Keshequa) in space. Her shot was turned away by the Brockport keeper to preserve the shutout.

Wilder finished with 10 saves in net for the Wolves, who fell to 0-4-3 overall and 0-1-1 in the Empire 8.
